The Bfusion Institute Strategy is a very focused action plan to improve the community surrounding the Points of Entry in San Ysidro and Tijuana, creating a new destination that will foster higher value economic activities such as the creative industries, demonstrating true bi-national collective impact.

The Smart Border Coalition applauds BFusion’s insistence that the neighborhoods closest to the ports of entry should no longer be ignored or relegated to secondary importance. We view BFusion’s efforts as vital to the new understanding of our binational region. More than any other organization that cares about our shared border, it has made smart growth, transit-oriented development, economic development, and place making the cornerstones of the new border. Our region’s ports of entry must become inviting and vibrant meeting places representing the best of our two nations.

Developing a “Sense of Strategic International Place” with value-added creative-innovation industries and intellectual collaboration would generate a multiplier effect of endless, indeed, individual life changing connections “with” the world. Such a transit and destination-oriented socioeconomic dynamic would further reduce auto dependence and improve air-quality along U.S.-Mexico border communities and cities.
